IABC
To help keep up with corporate, societal and technology impacts on communication, 15,000 business communication professionals from more than 80 countries turn to the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Founded in 1970, IABC provides volunteer, leadership, professional development and networking opportunities.
San Francisco serves as the headquarters of IABC, which is called IABC International. The headquarters staff oversees IABC’s annual world conference, manages IABC.com, provides support to volunteers at the international, regional and local level and much more. In all, IABC has 107 chapters divided into eight regions. Chapters are groups of IABC members in a metropolitan area or even across an entire state. Regions are larger areas made up of states or even countries, as is the case with the Asia/Pacific Region.
IABC Southern Region
There are 28 chapters in the Southern Region. The Southern Region’s primary goals are to support the leadership of the Southern Region chapters, provide a link to IABC International and promote professional development through the annual conference and Silver Quill Awards.
IABC/Atlanta
For 2010, IABC/Atlanta has the honor of hosting the Southern Region conference. IABC/Atlanta represents approximately 300 professional communicators in the metropolitan Atlanta area. The chapter provides monthly professional development programming, regular networking opportunities and volunteer leadership opportunities for its members.
