IABC Southern Region Conference: Details, details, details
We look forward to welcoming you to the IABC Southern Region conference in Atlanta next week. This e-mail is our way of helping you get the most BYTE out of your conference experience. We’ve got a lot planned for Oct. 28-30 and we want you to be informed.
Georgia Tech Hotel and Global Learning Center:
Conference Registration:
- Thursday, Oct. 28, starting at 5 p.m.: Registration will be at the site of the welcoming reception – the Biltmore Hotel (855 W Peachtree St NW).
- Friday, Oct. 29, starting at 7 a.m.: A registration and information desk will be on the second floor of the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center.
Welcoming Reception and IABC/Atlanta Golden Flame Awards:
- IABC/Atlanta is pleased to combine its signature event – the Golden Flame Awards reception – with the conference opening reception. The event will be at Atlanta’s historic Biltmore Hotel.
- Starting at 6 p.m., attendees will enjoy complimentary drinks and heavy hors d’oeuvres in the phenomenal Georgian Ballroom at the Biltmore Hotel.
- The Biltmore Hotel is an easy walk from the Georgia Tech Hotel. Take 5th St NW towards the Barnes & Noble. Turn left at West Peachtree St. NW. The Biltmore Hotel will be on the right about two blocks down.
- IABC/Atlanta has a penchant for themes. This year’s Golden Flame Awards theme is 80s prom. So, feel free to glam it up in a prom dress or powder blue tux. You won’t be alone. If you don’t want to look foolish, you won’t be alone either. Evening business attire is perfect, too.
- The opening reception is included in the full conference registration. Friday-only conference attendees can purchase a ticket to the reception at the door if they choose to come.
Opening Keynote and Breakfast:
- The opening keynote and breakfast begins at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29. Please arrive by 7:30 a.m. to register if you don’t register on Thursday night. We’re excited about hearing from some Atlanta communication leaders and we want you to hear every word.
Breakout sessions:
Silver Quill Awards Luncheon:
- On Friday, Oct. 29, from noon to 1:30 p.m., we’ll celebrate communications excellence over lunch in the Georgia Tech Hotel Ballroom. The Silver Quill Awards program is being coordinated by the Brazos Valley chapter of IABC.
Dine Around:
- Hosts from the local chapter will take conference attendees to fabulous restaurants in Atlanta. You can check out the dine around restaurant list and sign up for this activity at the registration desk at the Georgia Tech Hotel Conference center or via the conference website.
Coffee, Snacks and More:
- Coffee, soft drinks, juices and a variety of snacks are complimentary and available to conference attendees throughout the conference. The refreshments are located in the break areas throughout the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center.
Next week’s conference is going to be a great event. Thanks so much for registering for the conference and we’ll see you soon. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail Elena Mappus at emmappus@southernco.com.
